“Now, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deut. 10:12
Too often we pump into individuals who when asked what exactly is their purpose and reasons for what they do or are intending to embark on? I Personally become very alerted when they fail to pin down their true reason and drive propelling their actions. As such this article focuses on reaching out to somebody who might have been in such state or might know somebody who is struggling with finding defining truth to setting their allegiance right and how they must continue therein for the right reasons.
Permit me to say that to know our personal purpose in existence and pursue it with all given grace, we must first set our allegiance right. Whether as believers or individuals yet to believe, we must accept the truth though denied by our secular world. There is God and those that seek to live fulfilled lives and prosperous on earth must reverence, worship, acknowledge His sovereignty, and accept His Lordship over every created and creation. Put simple, we must place God first in all our earthly affairs. There must be right placement of our obedience and submission which is sad to say is wrongly aliened in today’s postmodern world, both within the church and secular world.
The question is not about benefits associated with respect of fellow human and regulations but the right placement of priorities. This need is without second thought very crucial to all eternal minded human. If you are concerned about life after death and what awaits us all beyond the horizon and experience known to human physical existence. Then we are doomed if we neglect to set our allegiance right. Many today does everything possible to serve and obey who they obey because their meals comes from such table. It has become my daily prayer that your understanding become opened to comprehend the nature of grace and power that have been set before us the very image of God. You must decisively cross your hand rightly as you pledge your allegiance in your everyday activities. Your boss at work, your parents, friends, doctor, teacher, colleague at work, school mates, business partners, and even your flesh to mention but a few cannot become the very force that determines how and to whom you must cross your hands. God and all His mandates and purpose for your entrance to earth must be your only true force that leads your heart to rightly cross your hands towards doing good rather than bringing sadness to all your existence on earth is touching.
Firstly, my premise is that we own allegiance to God in our everyday life much more than what we have shown as allegiance pledged to our individual nations on earth.
Allegiance is the expressed loyalty by a subject to His or her sovereign regardless of ones age. It is a allegorical expression if considered in the case of citizens obligation to a kingdom or nation. Nationals or citizens pledge allegiance to their nations by crossing their hands on their chest and by saluting their nations flags. Yet most nations have abused and continues to abuse these citizens in unspeakable ways and they continue to pledge their allegiance even as tax payers.
The highest kingdom is God’s kingdom which ought to be the centre of our everyday affairs; our consciousness ought to be reflecting on grace and the need to uphold this through our unequivocal obedience and submission to God through the working of the Holy Spirit in us with no age restrictions but universal responsibilities of all living on earth.
Today many have wrongly crossed their hands in the name of religion, social system, wealth acquisition, search for answers to health issues and general life situations. How determined are you beloved to doing it right this time and for the best healthy and profitable reason for the well being of all in existence and for the future of earth.
Other words for allegiance are loyalty, commitment, adherence, faithfulness, responsibilities and duties.
According to biblical writings, the Scriptures expressly acknowledges the climax of our sole duty in these terms.
- “And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” ( Deut. 6:5 cf. Matt. 22:37; Mark 12:30; Lk. 10:27 KJV)
- “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV)
- for we are His creation, Gen.2:28
- “For we have been bought with a price through His blood,” Acts 20:28; 1 Corin. 6:19-20;
- There is no such thing as a case for disobedience, because “we are his workmanship created unto good works.”(Eph.2:10) Disobedience is unto bad deeds.
